When I first tried working from home, I was stuck. I had no idea where to start and I didn't want to work from home doing something I absolutely hate. Why work from home doing something you hate, right? To me, that's the same as commuting to a job you hate, yet it's at home. You don't want that negative energy in your home space. Regardless, I have gone ahead and tried out the work from home movement and I have absolutely been killing it! Not only am I doing something I love, but I am also learning new skills to utilize and get paid for using them along the way. What's better than learning and getting paid to do so while in the comfort of your own home? Hence the title: 'Working from home is the best thing since sliced bread' *BOOM!* As a freelancer who works from home, I have the luxury of not having anyone in my face that I don't want to see. I have the luxury of shutting out the rest of the world to get my work done and not having anyone breathe down my neck asking me when I will get something done. I work remotely, therefore my clients are online. I do of course also have clients that are not online and for them I meet a few times to brainstorm and get direction. Then I creatively run with it and make it come to life. I JUST GETS IT DONE! I meet those deadlines on my own using time management and I create the best possible end product I can create for my clients. Find Your NicheAlready an expert in a specific field? You will most likely find that niche available on Fiverr to make money from it. You'll be ahead of the game since you don't have to learn a new skill right away. When I first began on Fiverr, I had no skills whatsoever in the voice over acting industry. I did a 'learn as you go' type situation. It actually worked out surprisingly well. Don't have a specific skill? No worries, just browse and find something you might enjoy doing. There's 8 different categories with tons of subcategories to choose from so don't talk yourself out of working from home! Besides after you've gotten the hang of it, you can open up your profile to a variety of different services if you have the skills to do so. Creating Your First GigLast week, I showed you how to sign up for an account on Fiverr.com the world's biggest freelancing website. If you missed last week's post be sure to check it out here: Legitimately Work From Home Now, after creating an account and verifying your account via email you will have access to your dashboard which will initially look empty because you have not received any jobs yet. Before we continue, pat yourself on the back from taking a step forward in working for yourself from home. GO YOU! Alright now it's time to take the next step and create your first gig. As I said in last week's video, a gig is the service you offer. So, if you have a talent or a skill you know you can already do then it is simple enough to begin making money using that talent or skill. You will go to the selling menu bar at the top of the page and click gigs. This page will open up: You will then add a gig title (the service you are offering), select the categories, etc. Make sure it is exactly what you can offer as the buyers will specifically want what your gig is offering them. You can even add tags for SEO. There will be 6 steps you have to go through in order to publish your first gig. The overview, pricing, description & FAQ, requirements, gallery, and last but not least publish. You will find these steps at the top of the page. They will contain a check mark after you've completed each step. Publish Your GigOnce you've completed all the steps your gig will be published for the world to see! Although Fiverr is fantastic at SEO there are still other ways you must promote your own gig as well to get views and eventually sales. Be sure to check out the video at the top of this post as it walks you through the process of setting up your first gig on Fiverr. Next week, I will be showing you how to apply for jobs already available on Fiverr, which will give you a higher chance of making your first sale a lot faster.
Leave any comments or questions below. If there is any problem you are having with Fiverr or creating your first gig I am here to help. HAPPY FREELANCING!
