I've been a voice over artist/actress for almost 4 years now and the awesome thing is I've worked from home the entire time! I've never met any of my voice over clients in person. I have skyped a few, but beyond that all of my business has been carried out from the comfort of my own home. There have been many times when I just did work in my pajamas lol! Although I initially started out doing voice overs, I slowly but surely learned that I needed to innovate that business. I had to expand my reach as when I began thinking about going to local businesses in Vegas I wondered how they would be able to use my voice over services. Immediately, I thought well I can record a phone IVR (interactive voice response) for their customers to be directed to whatever line they are trying to reach. The problem: I was NOT yet ready to leave the comfort of my home and seek out new clients. Also I was limiting myself by only thinking a phone IVR was what I could provide. Trust me, I know how terrible this sounds! This year, 2019, I am absolutely working on becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable. Now back to the story, so since I was not ready to leave my nest, I decided to try something different. I had edited a few videos in the past here and there and I remembered how much I enjoyed doing that. Of course I'd also had many clients hire me to record voice overs for promotional videos for their clients (dang middle man!). So I invested in myself (once again) as well as new video creation software and I began creating videos for a new avenue of clients. Then began my journey in video marketing. I have now created a wide range of videos for clients all over the world including: website navigation/tutorial videos, spokesperson videos, 2D and whiteboard animation videos, promotional videos, testimonial videos, green screen videos, product review videos, and the list goes on! By learning (or further developing an old skill) I was able to acquire more clients online. Video creation opened up a whole new door for me and continues to propel me forward in terms of this online business I started from scratch. I remember all the struggles of wanting to get to where I am now! 2019 will absolutely surpass my revenue for 2018, it just took a lot of creativity. For 2019, I DARE YOU to push yourself beyond any perceived limitations in your way. 4 years ago I definitely did NOT think I would have a voice over and video business. I did NOT think I would be able to make a living from home doing something I absolutely love! I grew up in East St. Louis and Washington Park, IL (look them up). The ability to do what I have done felt so far out of my reach, almost like something you'd see in a movie. The most important thing I can attribute for my success is: my focus game was on point and continues to be to this day. FOCUS AND DISCIPLINE are key! Just last night I recorded another green screen video for a repeat client in the cryptocurrency industry. I don't know much about crytocurrency but I certainly am learning about it through the scripts I have to read for the videos! Remember this: YOUR ONLY LIMITATION IS YOU. Don't wait another year to start pursuing your dreams, one year becomes 2 years, then 3 years and so on until it's too late! So get started today!
